I love it when Phillip Kanakis creates a reinvention of a classic hit as he typically does a complete overhaul from what the original is. If you can't completely reinvent a previous hit, in essence, some song you want to "cover" it is usually best to leave it alone and just not do it. It's often laughable when people do a cover but it is not much different than the original.
But when a completely new arrangement, and one that is stellar, is created, the results can be stunning....even magical.
The end-product here is just that.
The single is presented and produced by Phillip Kanakis and Kathryn Shipley and features Lee Newton, Dimitris Nezis, Nita Perez, Frank Fasano, and myself on vocals, along with Kathryn Shipley on lead vocals.
Our new version of "Stand" hit the iTunes charts in the World category at #2, just under Greece's #1 artist who has been the most famous artist in Greece for decades; meaning it's hard to top someone of such magnificent stature. To even be right under someone of this calibre is an incredible honor. The various vocalists all recorded in different locations and the production team has quite a list of engineers. Having been on the production team and engineering some of the tracks myself has been an amazing experience.
